A fatal motor accident has been reported to have taken place at Katari village on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday. The accident was revealed to have claimed some lives, with a reported number of 18 persons said to have died.

Eye witness reports account that an 18-seater commuter had ran into a stationary trailer parked on the road without caution signs, revealing that the bus exploded with occupants still inside,

The occupants were revealed to have been burnt in the clash while the driver of the trailer truck escaped in the ensuing crisis.

Reports account the incident occurring at the early hours of dawn, Katari village in particular, which is a settlement along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Kaduna State.

The accident appears to be a case of careless driving by motorists at night time, and there is reason to believe one of the drivers may have gone into the crash with faulty headlights or presumably issues with the vehicle that couldn’t have helped the driver foresee the incident or prevent it.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kaduna State, Corps Commander Hafiz T. Mohammed, confirmed the incident and revealed all occupants of the bus were burnt to ashes.

He revealed the bus ran into a stationary trailer parked on the road.
