Family Members Kidnapped in Kogi State, Community Receives Threat from Suspected Kidnappers
In a shocking incident, three family members were reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on Monday evening in Greenland community behind 500 Housing Estate, Ganaja, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident, which occurred around 9 pm, caused panic among the residents as they hurriedly sought safety.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the gunmen arrived in a Siena bus, firing shots indiscriminately, with the primary target being a retired security officer.
The community Chairman of Greenland in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Paul Atabor, confirmed the incident and stated that it had been reported to the C Division of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Disturbingly, the community received a threatening notice on Wednesday morning from suspected kidnappers, indicating their intention to return and abduct more individuals.
The message, which was cited by local sources, stated, “Greenland community, get ready for us, we are coming to get someone.”
A family member of one of the kidnapped victims, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the kidnappers had made contact with the family and were demanding a ransom for the safe release of their loved ones.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, SP William Ovye Aya, stated that the headquarters had not been officially briefed about the incident.
However, he assured that the command would provide further information once they received updates from the Divisional Police Officer of the C Division.
