Falsified Genitals Theft: Benue Police Arraign 26-Year-Old For Raising False Alarm
The Benue State Police Command has arrested Master Dooior Tartor, a 26-year-old commercial motorbike rider, before a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court for falsely reporting that his passenger took his penis.
Master Tartor was accused with providing false information, character defamation, and evading legal police custody.
Prosecuting police officer Insp. Joshua Baga told the court that on November 6, while the accused was transporting a passenger, Isaac Teryila of Judges Quarters, on his motorcycle, he raised a false alarm that his passenger had removed his manhood when they arrived opposite B Division Police Station Makurdi.
He further reported that Teryila was harassed, detained, and taken to the police station by the mob.
He stated that after receiving the report, the station’s DPO ordered that the accused be transported to the Police Cottage Hospital Makurdi for medical evaluation, adding that doctors confirmed that the alarmist was physically fit because nothing had occurred to his penis.
The prosecution also informed the court that the police had arrested the complainant after proving that he had wrongfully implicated his passenger.
It went on to say that he fled while in police custody but was apprehended the next day.
When the case was called, the accused pled not guilty to the allegations, while the prosecution claimed that the investigation was still ongoing and requested that the accused be held in jail till the investigation was completed.
In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Mrs Kadoon Gbasha granted the accused N100,000 bail with two sureties in the same amount and remanded the matter to December 14 for continuation.
