Fabinho to Al Ittihad: Wife hints at deal being done
Following the potential exit of Jordan Henderson from Liverpool, Fabinho remains another name on the list of a summer exit from Merseyside ahead of the start of the club’s pre-season.
According to reports originating in Saudi Arabia, Brazilian midfielder Fabinho’s proposed transfer to the Saudi Pro League has already been finalized.
The 29-year-old Liverpool player is strongly linked with a move to Al Ittihad, while club captain Jordan Henderson is also said to be of interest to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.
The Athletic has claimed that Al Ittihad is preparing a concrete offer of £40 million to acquire Fabinho, who still has three years remaining on his contract with Liverpool.
The potential departure of Fabinho follows a series of senior players leaving the club earlier this summer, including Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita, all of whom departed upon the expiry of their contracts.
Liverpool now faces the decision of whether to sell Fabinho before securing a replacement for their first-choice defensive midfielder. The club is expected to act swiftly in determining the outcome of the situation.
Reports emerging from Saudi Arabia have suggested that Fabinho’s move to the country is already a done deal.
Saudi-based outlet Neewssports, boasting a Twitter following of over 500,000, posted an image of Fabinho wearing Al Ittihad’s kit, alongside the caption: “Urgent. Deal done. Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.”
Meanwhile, observant fans have discovered a potential transfer clue on the Instagram account of Fabinho’s wife, Rebecca Tavares. Supporters noticed that she recently started following the Instagram account “Welcome Saudi,” which offers recommendations on hotels, restaurants, and attractions for foreign visitors.
However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may be reluctant to part ways with Fabinho, particularly without securing a replacement beforehand. The Brazilian midfielder has been a pivotal figure for the Reds since joining from Monaco for £39 million in 2018.
Throughout his time at Anfield, Fabinho has contributed significantly to the team’s success, winning the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup. He has amassed a total of 219 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool.
Despite a slight dip in form last season, Fabinho was expected to continue playing a vital role in the team’s upcoming campaign. Liverpool now faces a challenging decision regarding the potential sale of the midfielder, especially with the new season just weeks away.
Jurgen Klopp’s side is scheduled to face Karlsruher in their opening pre-season friendly on Wednesday, with their first Premier League match taking place against Chelsea on August 13.
Liverpool supporters eagerly await further developments in the Fabinho transfer saga, as the club weighs its options and considers the impact of potentially losing one of its key players.
