Former U.S President Donald Trump promises revenge on his enemies

Former President Donald Trump has made startling comments indicating a possibility of seeking revenge on his adversaries and refusing to dismiss the notion of assuming dictatorial powers in the future, during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Trump’s comments came in response to Hannity’s probing questions regarding allegations by critics that he might misuse power or manipulate the justice system to target political rivals, potentially wielding authority in a dictatorial manner.

Pressed by Hannity about any intentions to abuse power if reelected, Trump sidestepped directly addressing the question.

“You mean like they’re using right now?” Trump retorted, evading a direct response while criticizing perceived unjust treatment and baseless accusations against him.

Referring to past indictments, Donald Trump compared his legal challenges to being indicted more times (four) than notorious Chicago mobster Al Capone, emphasizing the perceived unjust nature of these charges.

When Hannity played a clip of Trump’s past statement, “I am your retribution,” the former president was confronted again about potential retribution.

Trump responded enigmatically, mentioning border closure and drilling initiatives on Day One, followed by a light-hearted attempt at humor to dispel concerns about dictatorial intentions.

Hannity referenced former House Representative Liz Cheney’s warning of a Trump dictatorship, to which Trump responded, seeming to downplay concerns about authoritarian tendencies with a combination of policy goals and humor.

The conversation shifted to Trump’s legal troubles, facing 91 counts across four criminal indictments, with his trial related to efforts to overturn the election scheduled to commence on March 4, a day before Super Tuesday.

In response to Trump’s comments, the Biden-Harris campaign swiftly reacted, with Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez expressing concern, stating,

“‘Donald Trump has been telling us exactly what he will do if he’s reelected, and tonight he said he will be a dictator on day one. Americans should believe him.'”

Additionally, Hannity raised President Biden’s recent comment about potentially not running if Trump wasn’t in the race, which Donald Trump dismissed as a manufactured talking point.
