Ex Tennis Player, Boris Becker jailed for faking bankruptcy
Ex tennis player and multiple times Champion, Boris Becker set for a 2 year spell in jail after being found guilty for faking bankruptcy to avoid paying off debts.
It certainly comes as a terrible turn of events for the once upon a time well known star who 37 years later is pronounced guilty at the Southwark Crown Court for breaking UK insolvency laws after he was declared bankrupt in 2017, while owing creditors a sum reportedly close to £50m.
The once upon a time world number one had been accused of hiding millions of pounds worth of assets to avoid paying his debts.
It was a dishonorable fate that eventually came for the six-time Grand Slam champion, who at his peak had been nicknamed “Boom Boom” for his domineering serve. As a player, Becker never failed to captivate audience particularly in the UK, where he has since lived since 2012.
A dark twist to his later years, has brought about the former tennis star’s success to the shadows that had stemmed from his turbulent repeated financial difficulties and private life. During his trial, Becker had agreed he had earned a “vast amount” at the peak points of his career, but his income had “reduced dramatically” after he retired in 1999.
And after the legal battles, Becker felt his downfall was as stretched to the thin as opposed to his career.
Becker was found guilty after a lot of debates in court as evidence arrived to the jurors who found him guilty of removal of property, two counts of failing to disclose estate and concealing debt.
