Former Nasarawa Commissioner confirmed dead

Dr. Bawa Ahmed Abimiku, a prominent figure in Nasarawa State’s health sector and former Commissioner of Health, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness.

The news of his demise was confirmed by a family source, revealing that Abimiku, known by the traditional title of Durbin Eggon, breathed his last in the early hours of Tuesday, December 19, at the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi.

Dr. Bawa Ahmed Abimiku played a pivotal role in shaping the healthcare landscape, having served as Commissioner and Member of the State Executive Council (SEC) during the tenure of the late Alhaji (Dr) Aliyu Akwe Doma.

His contributions and dedication to the health sector were widely acknowledged, marking his tenure as a period of significant development and progress in Nasarawa State’s healthcare initiatives.

In adherence to Islamic tradition, plans have been made for Dr. Abimiku’s burial ceremony at the Abuja Central Mosque, FCT, scheduled to commence at 2:00 pm. The ceremony aims to honor and bid farewell to the esteemed leader in line with religious customs and practices.
