Ex-Barcelona player laments ill treatment
His Barcelona career didn’t quite cut it for him as it was everything including underwhelming for the most part of it.
Riqui Puig joined the club’s senior team set up under the former Dutch manager, Ronald Koeman but met his Barcelona dream all in the mud when Barca legend, Xavi Hernandez joined the club as manager.
Departing the club this summer to the American league, Major League Soccer, the midfielder laments how Xavi killed his dreams by not giving him the chance to prove himself.
Though he admits holding no grudge on leaving the club, Riqui Puig did not deny leaving Barcelona on a sad note to join the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The midfielder revealed the problems he had with the club was on the Blaugrana’s decision to leave him from their pre-season tour of the USA.
“Being in Barcelona while my teammates were here in Los Angeles, playing games, the truth is that it hurt me a lot,
“Sometimes you have to make decisions. They took this one, I don’t agree with them, but that’s fine,” the former Barcelona midfielder said.
Puig lamented that he had been with the Spanish giants for seven years but was not given the needed opportunity to play his football, hence his decision to move to the USA.
