Everything I have built has been taken away – Paul Pogba pleads his innocence to doping ban
Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba, has responded following his four-year ban for doping.
TopNaija understands that the France and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been handed a four-year ban from football following a doping violation.
The National Anti-Doping Tribunal of Italy (NADO Italia) had provisionally suspended Pogba in September, 2023 after he tested positive for testosterone, which is a prohibited substance.
In December that same year, Italian prosecutors sought the maximum penalty of a four-year ban for Pogba. The 2018 World Cup champion had tested positive for testosterone after Juventus’ match against Udinese on August 20, 2023. Although he did not participate in the game, Pogba was present on the bench during the match.
Taking to Instagram, Pogba expressed his intention to appeal the ban, emphasizing that everything he has worked hard to achieve is now at risk of being stripped away from him.
He wrote:
“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect.
I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.
As a consequence of the decision announced today I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.“
