“Even if I stop singing today, my name will still be in Afrobeats Hall of Fame” – Rema boasts

Popular Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, best known as Rema has asserted that he had gotten for himself, a lot of Fame in the past years to the extent that he would still be regarded if he decided to quit music the instant.

The Afrobeats sensation opined that he is at the stage in his music career where he could have a mark on the Afrobeats Hall of Fame.

Rema who was featured on the cover of the fourth edition of The New Wave issue of i-D Magazine and recently performed at the 2023 Ballon D’Or stated that his current status and name has been inked in the Afrobeats Bible and would continue to ring a bell even though he considers leaving the music scene.

He said:

I’m not saying I want to stop. But if I say I want to stop right now, my name is still going to be on the Afrobeats bible, if there is an Afrobeats bible to be dropped. I’ll literally be in the New Testament, on the front page.”

When the young singer rose to recognition in 2019, he was mocked by reviewers for his soundtrack, which had a Bollywood flavour to it.

“Everything they doubted, everything they laughed at me for, I built on it. They called me Indian Boy; I went to India. I’m the first artist to shut down four cities in India, 5000 capacity and above. No one can deny that I’ve impacted Afrobeats on a global scale,” he added
