Evangeline Lilly On Embarrassing Moment With Michael Douglas

Evangeline Lilly, the Canadian actress who stars in the recently-released Marvel film, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, has revealed an awkward moment she had with veteran actor Michael Douglas on set.

In an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, Lilly recounted how she told Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer that they were “GILFs” (grandparents I’d like to f**k) during a scene in a restaurant waiting room, in front of a group of extras and children.

Lilly said that Michael Douglas did not know what the term meant and she had to explain it, adding that in the heat of the moment, she blurted out, “It’s a grandpa I’d like to f**k.” She immediately realised her mistake and apologised, stating that it was not appropriate to say such things in front of children.

The term “GILF” is derived from “MILF” (mother I’d like to f**k), which was popularised in the 1999 film American Pie. The actress who played the infamous role of Stifler’s Mom, Jennifer Coolidge, was handed the term by her son’s classmate.

Despite the awkward moment, Lilly spoke highly of Douglas, Pfeiffer, and the rest of the Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania cast. She said that working with the veteran actors was a dream come true, and they were cooler than she ever imagined. The film, which also features new Marvel stars Bill Murray and Kathryn Newton, has been received positively by fans and critics alike.

She said:

‘There was this day on set, we were doing a scene in a restaurant and we were in a waiting room, so they filmed the waiting room with extras and there were children. ‘I turned to Michael and Michelle and I said, “You know, you guys are real GILFs.”

“Michael had no idea. He said, “What’s a GILF?” Instead of being cool about it, in front of a room full of children I went, “It’s a grandpa I’d like to f**k.”

“And then immediately realised I’d told Michael Douglas I’d like to f**k him, which is not what you should say in front of a bunch of kids, oops!”
