“I want him gone” — Erik ten Hag to Man United board
Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has reportedly reached a definitive decision concerning the future of Jadon Sancho at the club.
Jadon Sancho has been a notable absentee from the team since August following a very public dispute with the Dutch manager.
The saga began after Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on September 6 when Ten Hag stated that Sancho was omitted from the matchday squad due to his subpar training performances.
However, the England winger vehemently disagreed with this assessment and took to social media to release a lengthy statement, asserting that he had been unfairly made a ‘scapegoat’ in the situation.
On September 14, Manchester United issued a club statement confirming that Sancho was presently engaged in a ‘personal training program’ away from the first-team squad.
Reports now suggest that Ten Hag is awaiting an apology from the 23-year-old for the incident before considering his reintegration into the first-team squad.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Dutch manager has informed club executives that, should Sancho continue to refuse to apologize, he should be sold during the January transfer window.
The Daily Mail further reports that Manchester United is willing to subsidize Sancho’s substantial £300,000-a-week wages to facilitate a loan move to another club.
Potential suitors, such as Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, appear to be hesitant due to the club’s £60 million valuation.
United is reportedly concerned that an extended period on the sidelines could significantly diminish Sancho’s market value. For his valuation to remain at its current level, he would need to consistently perform in a top European league.
Notably, Ten Hag has refrained from mentioning Sancho by name in public statements since their disagreement.
However, he used a pre-match press conference ahead of the Brighton game last month to make a general point about Manchester United‘s team culture.
In his statement, he emphasized the importance of team construction and group dynamics in the current generation of players.
