Manchester United manager sympathizes with Dortmund’s Sebastien Haller
It’s quite the tragic one for Borussia Dortmund’s Sebastien Haller who was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer.
The diagnosis came during the Bundesliga club’s preseason when the player fell ill and had required Dortmund to arrange for a medical on the player ahead of its training camp.
The club had signed the Ivory Coast international ahead of the coming season only for Haller to fall ill on July 18, withdrawing from the club’s training camp.
Prior to joining Borussia Dortmund, Sebastien Haller had played under the Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag in two different clubs, FC Utrecht and Ajax.
This led to the Dutchman sending to the Ivorian his best wishes upon diagnosis.
“It’s horrible,” Ten Hag said speaking to club channel, MUTV after the Red Devil’s preseason game against Crystal Palace.
“I have a fantastic relationship with him.
“He is my friend, my striker for several years with Utrecht and with Ajax.
“To hear such news is devastating. My thoughts are with him and with his family and I hope he will recover quickly.” the manager said.
The Ivorian’s former club, West Ham along with its former players joined in sending recovery messages to the 28 year old when the reports broke.
Erik ten Hag acts no differently as he took his time to speak about a former player he had the privilege of coaching for 2 years.
Sebastien Haller is understood to go through further examinations in a specialized medical centre as he begins rehab.
