Erik ten Hag reject offers from Manchester United senior stars

Following the triumph at Old Trafford against Chelsea for Manchester United in a pivotal 2-1 win, manager Erik ten Hag reportedly standing firm against demands made by some of the club’s senior players, a recent report has revealed.

Scott McTominay’s brace on Wednesday secured a crucial win for Manchester United, elevating them to the sixth position on the Premier League table, while Chelsea remained in the tenth spot. The victory eased mounting pressure on Ten Hag, who had faced speculation earlier in the week about unrest within the dressing room.

Despite Ten Hag’s dismissal of claims concerning player discontent, The Mail Online reported post the Chelsea victory that members of the players’ leadership group had raised complaints in recent weeks.

Allegedly, their grievances centered around concerns regarding their workload, particularly the limited number of rest days and the inability to plan their time off due to fluctuations in the training schedule.

The leadership group reportedly comprises senior players like Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and reserve goalkeeper Tom Heaton. However, the reports clarified that not all of them expressed dissatisfaction, with a majority of the squad reportedly supportive of Ten Hag.

Ten Hag, while purportedly attentive to the players’ concerns, maintained an unwavering stance, emphasizing the requisite standards of commitment and sacrifice expected at a club like Manchester United.

Despite occasionally granting additional days off, Ten Hag remains resolute about the demands of top-tier football, expressing a belief in the increasing physical demands of the Premier League.
