There Is Mbappe, Then There Is Marcus Rashford—Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, has said that he is doubtful whether young Alejandro Garnacho would benefit from traveling with the Argentina national squad to the World Cup.

Gamacho, who is 18, made his way into the United first team last week and scored his first goal for the Red Devils against Real Sociedad in the Europa League under Erik ten Hag.

The teenage player provided two assists in the Carabao Cup victory over Aston Villa on Thursday night after coming off the bench.

Gamacho has already been included in Lionel Scaloni’s 26-man team for the World Cup, which will begin in Qatar later this month.

“It’s difficult to say,” Erik Ten Hag said of Garnacho and his World Cup prospects in the post-match press conference.

“I don’t know all the available Argentina players, of course I know a lot of players from Argentina, what is available for them from 26.

“I don’t know if that’s the right step for him. I think he has to keep his head clean, stay calm, work hard and develop, I think go from game to game.”

The World Cup season is going to be problematic for a lot of managers, and even more so it has for players whose world cup dreams sadly was cut short after picking up injuries before the games commenced.

It would be a lot more problematic if players who are instrumental in their clubs return with injuries to their various clubs.
