EPL Games: TopNaija’s Predictions For The Weekend
English Premier League (EPL) returns for week 7 games as the 2023/24 season gears further into the challenging phases of the season, and TopNaija is here with its predictions for the coming weekend games.
Saturday 30th September begins the weekend fixtures, with the 12:30 pm kickoff returning as Unai Emery’s Villa side takes on Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton.
TopNaija predicts this game to come out with a 2-2 draw at Villa Park for both Aston Villa and Brighton in a stalemate draw.
Followed parallel will be the 3 pm kickoff that sees a host of 6 EPL Games take place concurrently.
In Bournemouth vs. Arsenal, we predict the Cherries to give the Gunners a tough game, however Mikel Arteta’s side will be wary about dropping points in consecutive EPL Games and thus may force out a 1-2 win or a 1-3 score line.
Everton vs. Luton Town, with the Toffees seeing some renewal of form, Sean Dyche dropping any points at Goodison Park to a Luton side that has only 1 point from 5 games, will be bringing on the narratives of a sack.
TopNaija predicts a 2-0 win for the Merseyside Blues.
Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace, this tie is starting to look like a grudge match, with Palace now given a chance to avenge the mid-week defeat to the Red Devils on the same ground in the Carabao Cup clash.
Roy Hodgson will be looking to correct some things in his return to Old Trafford with his Crystal Palace side. We predict a 1-1 shocking stalemate in this game, a contrast to the 3-0 whooping in mid-week.
Newcastle United vs. Burnley, Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side has played all the fine football this season, but with nothing to show for it, and if they continue that trend at the Saint James Park, we might be seeing another high scoring fixture in this tie.
This has a Newcastle victory written all over it, but football they say, can happen. We predict a 4-2 score line at Saint James’ Park.
West Ham United vs. Sheffield United, following a 3-1 defeat at Anfield last weekend, the Hammers will hope to resume their fine form at home at the London Stadium to visitors Sheffield United.
Sheffield like the other promoted sides, have not had any tangible points this season, and owing to their poor form this season, do not look like they will this weekend. TopNaija predicts the tie to end with a 3-1 victory this time in favor of West Ham.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Manchester City, predicting a Manchester City game must be the easiest for any punter looking to place a stake in his betting slip. Aside the mid-week defeat in the Carabao Cup to Newcastle United, City has been in fine form this season, claiming 6 wins from 6 EPL games so far.
Will Wolves put a stop to it? There was a time they could have, but this tie comes too soon for a Wolverhampton side not sure of what aspiration they hold dear this season.
This reads an easy win for Pep Guardiola’s side in a 0-4 score line to claim all 3 points to move further ahead on the premier league table.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool, comes at late evening kickoff at 5:30 pm, with the Reds going away to a refreshed Tottenham side led by Ange Postecoglou.
Ange himself has professed his love for Liverpool prior to being Spurs’ manager, under the days of Bill Shankly, but this tie will separate boyhood love from duty. By far the biggest game of the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to expose Liverpool’s lapses in midfield and defence this season.
For Jurgen Klopp, this will be the big test for Liverpool. Chelsea almost railroaded the Reds on opening weekend, and now Heung Min Son may be up for the task at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.
TopNaija predicts a 1-0 defeat for Liverpool heading into this. Perhaps a comeback may be on the cards again, but the Reds may find it a bigger test coming back in this game should they go down to an earlier lead.
The weekend games continue into Sunday, the 1st of October, setting into motion the October EPL games to come.
Nottingham Forest vs. Brentford begins the hostilities at Forest’s home ground. This game will prove a hard tie for Brentford no matter how they want to look at it.
We predict a 2-1 win in favor of Nottingham Forest.
Week 7 ends with a West-London derby between Fulham and Chelsea at Fulham’s home ground, not Stamford Bridge however.
The Monday night late kickoff will see both neighbors duke it out for all 3 points, but with Fulham in a rather good form, Marco Silva’s side may be a worthy test of Mauricio Pochettino.
However, we predict a first London derby win for the Argentine as Chelsea manager. A 1-0 or perhaps 2-0 win may suffice for the Blues.
