Enzo Fernandez plotting Chelsea exit if form doesn't improve

Chelsea midfield maestro, Enzo Fernandez is reportedly plotting an exit from the Blues according to Spanish publication, Fichajes if the current form of the team does not improve.

The report comes just after a 6-month stay in West-London that has seen Chelsea’s form dwindle under the new ownership of the Todd Boehly led consortium.

The 22-year-old joined the Blues from Benfica in a then record transfer fee of £106.5 million after world cup triumph with Argentina in Qatar.

However, his arrival at Chelsea has failed to improve the team’s fortunes on the pitch with the Blues suffering 2 defeats to the start of the 2023/24 premier league season to leave Mauricio Pochettino’s side in 12th place.

According to Fichajes’ report, Enzo Fernandez is ready to pack up and leave if Chelsea’s form does not improve.

It is believed that his decision is motivated “partly due to a football level below expectations” .

Former Arsenal midfielder, Paul Merson has also echoed similar sentiments on Sky Sports, questioning;

“Chelsea have brought in a million players and you think: ‘How do you get a team out of this lot?’ Chelsea is about winning trophies. It’s not Tottenham, trying to get in the top four, but that’s where it’s got to – so quickly, as well.

“Mauricio Pochettino will get it right because he’s a good manager, but it’s going to be hard. If they get in the top four then they will be pulling up trees.

“They’ve bought too many players that are the same. Enzo Fernandez is different class – a cut above the rest. But how long will he stand for this?”

Has it gotten to an era where Chelsea are now scuffling for a top 4 finish than a trophy challenge?
