Emmanuel Adebayor trapped in Benin Republic after fleeing Paraguay

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is currently trapped in Benin Republic. He fled from Paraguay where he recently signed with Olimpia FC to be with his family while the world battles the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a reports, Adebayor, 36, left Paraguay on a flight to Paris and from Paris had to stop in Benin on his way to his country Togo. While in Benin he was informed of the country’s isolation rules for travelers and is now stuck in the West African country for the next 14 days where he will be isolated to know if he has contracted coronavirus.

Adebayor was reportedly warned by his clubside in Paraguay of the risks of traveling but he still chose to travel, saying he will rather be with his family in Togo than be in Paraguay during this coronavirus pandemic.

Olimpia FC have released a statement about the situation surrounding Adebayor.

It read: ‘Emmanuel Adebayor made the decision to return to his country to spend the government-declared quarantine time.

‘As an institution, we have informed him of the risks that this entails, but his decision was to spend this time with his family.’

Adebayor speaking to local media after landing in Benin said: ‘My quarantine in Lome (Togo), like in Benin, is to feel at home, it doesn’t bother me at all.’

I love to read, write and TRAVEL!!! The media space is my canvas to paint the truths of our brands and the stories of our Nigerian culture. I love a good book any day because with them I can travel to spaces that are perfect in their frame.
