Emir of Gaya Ibrahim Abdulkadir is dead

The Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir one of the five emirates in Kano state, has passed on, TopNaija reports.

 

His death was confirmed by the Ajiyan Gaya, Malam Shamsu Isa Kademi. He said the late Emir of Gaya died in his Gaya palace at the age of 91.

Abdulkadir, who has been on the throne since his appointment as Sarkin Gaya district head of Gaya in 1990, was among those elevated to the rank of first class Emir by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2019.

Emir of Gaya is dead

A presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, also confirmed the death in a Facebook post.

He posted, “As announced by Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, the SSA on New Media to the Governor of Kano State, our Amir, the Emir of Gaya Emirate, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Abdulkadir is dead, ‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un’!

“The Emir was a great leader, he was born in 1930, 91 years ago, and had been on the throne for more than 30 years.

“May Allah (SWT) accept his good deeds, grant him Jannah Al-Firdaus, and grant his family and the entire Gaya Emirate the fortitude to bear this great loss. Ameen!”

He also held several traditional positions such as district head of Kunchi, district head of Minjibir among others.
