Emefiele Saga: DSS Apprehend CBN Deputy Governor, Kingsley Obiora
The deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, in charge of economic policy, Kingsley Obiora, has allegedly been apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS).
TopNaija gathered that it had been about four nights the CBN deputy governor had spent in the DSS custody.
The agency is said to be investigating allegations of financial mismanagement under the suspended apex bank governor, Godwin Emefiele.
According to some familiar sources, Kingsley was arrested because he was a suspect as a principal witness against his boss.
Another top CBN official, Abbas Masanawa, was recently taken in as officials plan to dig into the steepness of Emefiele’s alleged corruption.
Obiora, born March 6, 1976, was an International Monetary Fund policy head who assisted former Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. He also served as an advisor to Emefiele until March 2, 2020, when he was confirmed as one of CBN’s four deputy governors.
Emefiele, who was originally appointed as CBN governor in June 2014, has been in SSS since June 10, 2023, a day after President Bola Tinubu controversially dismissed him from office.
