Why You Should Embrace your Mistakes to achieve success

Published

on

When we think of success, our minds naturally zero in on the desired outcome. Success is the ultimate goal and the final result we wanted all along. While successfully attaining an individual outcome is gratifying, there is the whole process from desire to result that we tend to gloss over. Mistakes are an essential part of any transformation. Not only do they underscore the whole fallible humanity we are working with, but they help us break through into deeper dimensions of commitment while redirecting us toward more constructive pathways. See a few reasons why mistakes are important for success;

  1. Mistakes are a part of life

We would all love if life just started, ended and contained only successes and accomplishments; life would be easy and boring. Imagine life with no learning curve, regret and disappointment. It is easy to beat yourself up after every minor or major mistake.  When we are aware of our mistakes we are able to set ourselves up for success by learning from mistakes and finding out where our pitfalls are.

  1. Mistakes humble you.

They let you know that you still have growing to do. Mistakes keep you hungry, they fuel your desire to be at your best and to stay on your toes. Mistakes will keep you grounded and keep your ego in check. Make it ok to make mistakes, your work ethic will thank you.

  1. Without mistakes, there is no wisdom.

Mistakes allow you to put your wisdom to use and give real advice. Wisdom comes from experience and mistakes. Some of the world’s biggest names and mentors have made tons of mistakes with their health, relationship, careers, personal lives, and finances which is exactly why they are able to speak in great detail about how their mistakes have contributed to what they are today. Learn from your mistakes and share your knowledge. Someone else is learning from it.

Our mistakes give us real and meaningful insight on who we are, and why we do what we do. Mistakes give us insight into our habits of thinking, behaving and adjusting. We learn what our true strengths and weakness are. Mistakes add meaning, colour and texture to our lives and it is okay to make mistakes.
