Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has said that the election victory of Nigeria’s President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, was the act of God.

The monarch made this statement on Thursday during the coronation ceremony of the new Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, in Jigawa State.

Abubakar urged Nigerians to accept the outcome of the 2023 presidential election and support their leaders, as leadership is a gift from Allah Almighty given to whoever He wishes at any time.

According to him, nobody can question or change God’s will, and therefore Nigerians should consider the victory of Tinubu as an act of God.

The 2023 presidential election was a closely contested one, with Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerging as the winner after polling the highest number of votes.

His closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), put up a good fight but were unable to secure victory.

The Sultan’s statement comes as a call for unity and acceptance of the election outcome by all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations.

He emphasized that leaders are chosen by God and therefore cannot be questioned or challenged by anyone.
