El Pistelero finally returns Home

A lot of speculations and rumors were created regarding his transfer, but Luis Suarez, known by the nickname ‘El Pistolero’ has finally found himself a new club.

The former Barcelona and Liverpool striker who became a free agent this summer after being let go by Atletico Madrid, announced he had reached preliminary agreement to return to his home club, Nacional.

The star started out his career at the Uruguayan club before making the move to various prestigious clubs across Europe, beginning from the Netherlands and then to England and Spain.

His career though filled with one of controversy in his earlier years, was followed with numerous trophies and accolades over the years particularly with Barcelona, though mentions can be made of him winning titles at Ajax, Atletico Madrid and a League Cup with Liverpool.

El Pistolero joins Nacional as he gears up to fit into the Uruguay squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar which will be the 35 year Old’s 4th.

“First of all I would like to say thank you for the great affection shown to me and my family these last few days,” Suarez said in a video posted on his social media accounts.

According to the Uruguayan, this made it quite impossible for him “to reject the possibility of returning to play for Nacional and we have a preliminary agreement with the club.”

Nacional president, Jose Fuentes, also sent his appreciation to fans who had launched a massive social media campaign in a bid to convince Suarez to return.

Originally, it was reported that the former Liverpool striker was aiming to remain in Europe and play out his career, with the rumor mill speaking of a potential sensational return to England or Netherlands.

But ultimately, El Pistolero chose to return home regardless.
