El Clasico: "I am Responsible for the humiliation" -- Xavi

Barcelona boss, Xavi Hernandez takes blame for the 4-1 humiliating defeat to eternal rivals, Real Madrid in the El Clasico.

The Spanish Super Cup final clash which took place at Al-Awwal Park between El Clasico rivals, saw Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr steal the spotlight with a remarkable first-half hat-trick to gift Madrid its revenge for last year’s edition of final.

Teammate, Rodrygo sealed the victory with a goal in the second half to take the tide out of Barcelona grasp.

Despite Robert Lewandowski’s effort to pull one back and make it 2-1, Vinícius’ penalty dashed any hopes of a Clásico comeback before the halftime whistle.

In a post-match statement, Xavi expressed his remorse for the team’s subpar performance, acknowledging the disappointment faced by the supporters.

“It’s a moment to say sorry to the supporters and accept the criticism that comes,” Xavi admitted.

“We did not show the side of the team we should have in a final, especially against Madrid. We were at our worst today in the worst scenario possible, and it’s a trophy lost. I am responsible. I accept the criticism, and we will keep working hard.”
