Kano State police command bans Durbar activities during Eid el-Kabir
The Kano State Police Command has announced a ban on Durbar activities during the upcoming Eid el-Kabir celebrations.
This decision, detailed in a statement issued on Thursday by Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel, aims to sustain peace in the state amid ongoing tensions.
Gumel emphasized that all parties involved in the emirateship dispute have been restrained from conducting Durbar activities during the festivities.
He advised worshippers to adhere to traditional practices by performing their Eid prayers at designated praying grounds.
“In this trying period, the police will enforce the existing court order, prevail on the two contending parties regarding the Kano emirateship tussle, and urge them to remain apart and respect the court order,” Gumel stated.
The Commissioner of Police called for continued collaboration and cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure a safer and more secure environment. He also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
This enforcement aims to prevent any disruption and ensure a peaceful celebration of Eid el-Kabir across the state.
