Ex-Governor Segun Oni denies endorsing Tinubu for 2023 Presidency

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied reports that it raided the home of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The commission described the reports as ‘false’ and urged the public to disregard the information as fake news.

Social media had been awash with claims that the EFCC operatives had carried out a raid on Tinubu’s home and recovered a huge sum of N400 billion.

However, the EFCC, in a statement released on Sunday, denied the claims, stating that no such operation was carried out by the commission.

The statement urged the public to be wary of fake news and not to spread misinformation that could cause unnecessary tension in the country.

It also reiterated the commission’s commitment to its mandate of fighting economic and financial crimes, without bias or favoritism.

The news of the alleged raid had caused anxiety among supporters of the APC, with many questioning the timing of the operation. Some had suggested that it was politically motivated and aimed at sabotaging the party’s chances in the forthcoming presidential elections.
