EFCC arrests Gbajabiamila over fraud

Suleiman Gbajabiamila, a 63-year-old man, was arrested yesterday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was charged with defrauding a UK-based Nigerian of N30 million in 2021 by posing as an estate agent.

Despite being remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre in October 2022, Gbajabiamila was released in December.

The case was adjourned until April 5, 2023.

However, drama ensued after the court proceeding as the EFCC arrested Gbajabiamila while he was trying to leave.

The victim accused the suspect of using the name and influence of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, to evade justice.”

Sokoto State has suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Aishat Maina, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Female Education.

Maina was attending a rally for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) when she became caught in a stampede that took place at the exit gate of the rally’s venue, the Giginya Stadium.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Maina passed away shortly after her admission at Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.

A motorcyclist fell down from his bike at the exit way of the stadium and that caused a serious stampede, with people falling upon one another. She was one of the victims,”  a source said.
