Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu, simply known as Duncan Mighty, is a Nigerian musician, singer, and music producer
EARLY LIFE
He was born on 28th October 1983 in Port Harcourt, He is currently 38 years old. He is originally from Obio-Akpor, a small village in Rivers State in the south southern part of Nigeria. He is fondly referred to as Port Harcourt first son. And he’s also the only child born to Mr. and Mrs. Okechukwu.
EDUCATION
Duncan Mighty completed both his primary, secondary and university education in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate, West African Senior School Certificate and Bachelor’s Degree.
CAREER
Duncan Mighty started his music career in 2006 as a record producer before delving into singing. In 2006, Duncan Mighty returned to Port Harcourt, where he first rendered his services to record companies like D Large Records and 360 Records, before partnering with celebrity jeweler Chris Aire to form AireMighty Records

In 2007, his father Mr. Okechukwu died. The following year, in 2008 Duncan Mighty released his first debut full-length album “Koliwater” which was a commercial success. Though his musical style demonstrates a high-level of genre versatility, it is also heavily influenced by the sounds and culture of his people as most of his songs are always in his native Ikwerre tongue.

His first album contained 22-track and yielded popular songs like “Ijeoma”, “Scatter My Dada” and “Ako Na Uche”, amongst others. The songs from his first album drew the attention of many music lovers across the country. His second studio album “Ahamefuna” meaning Legacy, was released in 2010 with a lesser number of 15 tracks than its predecessor. The album was also very well received by fans and music lovers.

The second album was so popular it’s a vibe song “Obianuju and Port Harcourt Son”. The hit single from his second album titled “Port Harcourt Son” became very popular globally and gave him international recognition and fame with huge fan following.

In 2011, Duncan Mighty received three nominations at the 6th Nigeria Entertainment Awards and also won the Indigenous Artist of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In September 2012, Duncan Mighty released his third album “Footprints” which had 18-track and with guest appearances from Timaya, Shaggy, Otuu Sax, Sandaz Black and Wande Coal. Duncan Mighty has been honored by the United Nation as a Peace Ambassador.

From his youth Duncan Mighty began as an instrumentalist. He played drums in church and was the choir director. His interest in music grew with time and eventually led him to the school, where he studied Audio Engineering. During his National Youth Service, Duncan Mighty served as a sound instructor for Benson and Hedges. Duncan Mighty has also worked at Dolphin Studios while on IT at Muson Centre in Lagos, Nigeria. At this time, Duncan Mighty was certain about his singing potential, although his main focus was strongly on music production. Later on, Duncan Mighty began singing and recording, eventually combining both skills together.

In 2014, Duncan Mighty released his fourth studio album “Grace and Talent” through his own imprint Young Wealth Records. The album included contributions from Phyno, Young Stunna, Tick Lips, J Flex, amongst others.

In 2016, Duncan Mighty released his fifth studio album “The Certificate” with several hits singles banging on the airwaves.

Duncan Mighty has been honored alongside fellow south southern artists like M-Trill, Timaya, Becky Enyioma and Sodi Cookey at the 4th annual Odudu Music Awards.
FAMILY
The name of his wife is Vivien Okechukwu Mighty. They got married on 25th of July 2015 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The marriage event was attended by celebrities and important personality, where by famous gospel artist Sammie Okposo performed as a guest artist. The following year, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy. In June 2017, the happy parents welcomed their first daughter, Michelle. On 5th June 2019, the couple welcomed their third child.
PERSONAL LIFE
He said a little thing about his life that “Wene is my local name, the native name they know me by at home, Wene means brotherhood. If you are a Port-Harcourt man, you will easily grasp the meaning. It means my brother from another mother. I always use that slogan in every of my songs because ‘wene mighty’ means togetherness.”

Duncan Mighty in the cause of his career as an artiste has won several awards and has been nominated for several awards. In 2011, he was nominated for Artist of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Best Album of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and Hottest Single of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Also, in 2011, Duncan Mighty won the Indigenous Artist of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2012, Duncan Mighty was nominated for African Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.
