DSS, Nigerian Army confess over attack on Sunday Igboho’s residence
Moments ago, the Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed the attack on the residence of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Sunday Igboho’s house was invaded in the early hours of today around 2am, and the invasion reportedly lasted till around 5am.
The DSS while confirming the raid, paraded 11 men and a woman arrested after the fierce battle.
The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Peter Afunanya, on Thursday night said the operatives recovered a cache of arms including seven AK-47 rifles and thousands of ammunition from Igboho’s house.
According to him, the suspects were taken to Abuja while Igboho escaped. Afunanya stressed that the operatives has launched a manhunt for Igboho, adding that he will be tracked.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has insisted it is not responsible for the attack on the residence of Sunday Igboho.
It was also gathered that seven people were killed and his wife kidnapped during the attack.
The gunmen who donned military uniforms attacked Igboho’s residence at about 1:30am and destroyed valuable assets in the building.
Reacting, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Onyema Nwachukwu, absolved the Army of any involvement in the attack.
Addressing newsmen, Nwachukwu said he was not aware of the incident.
“There’s nothing like that, I don’t have that information. Soldiers did not carry out an attack on Igboho,” Nwachukwu affirmed.
