Drop Zinchenko — Neil Lennon to Arteta
Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has suggested that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should replace Oleksandr Zinchenko with Kieran Tierney in the starting lineup, in order to increase Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season. Lennon has praised Tierney’s defensive abilities and his ability to drive the team forward.
Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table with an eight-point lead over Manchester City. The team’s confidence is growing with each game, as they aim to win their first league title in 19 years. However, they face tough challenges in the form of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle, as well as home clashes against Chelsea and Brighton.
Zinchenko has been playing in the right-back position for Arsenal this season, but Lennon believes that Tierney, who is more defensively minded, would be a better fit for the team. He highlighted Tierney’s standout performance as a left centre-half for Scotland against Spain, saying:
“I like Zinchenko and I think he is a fabulous player, but I’m not convinced he’s as good a defender as Kieran. Kieran is more of a dynamic player who drives teams up the pitch.”
The Arsenal manager has not yet responded to Lennon’s comments, but it remains to be seen if he will take the suggestion on board. Arsenal’s next game is against Liverpool, which will be a crucial test of their title credentials.
