Popular Canadian rapper, Drake has reportedly lost a whopping $1 million bet on the victorious team, Argentina, after France’s Mbappe’s last-minute goal.
The rapper, drake had placed $1 million on Argentina winning the world cup yesterday, December 8; however, even though his predictions were right, the rapper made a loss as he placed the bet on the South American team winning the tournament in normal time.
Mbappe’s two quick goals, which pushed the match into extra time, ruined Drake’s wager.
Argentina was leading first with Messi and Angel Di Maria scoring two goals in the first half. France’s Kylian Mbappe, however, went even within only one minute apart in the second half, leading to extra time. After the extra time ended with an even score of 3-3, the two national teams went head-to-head in a penalty shootout, which Argentina won.
Drake’s famous curse for wrong tips was eventually broken as Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties to win the World Cup. Unfortunately for Drake, he placed his bet in the 1×2 market which doesn’t account for extra time.
Had the rapper won, he would gave gotten a payout of $2.75million.
It was Argentina’s first World Cup win since 1986. Drake previously made a big bet on the Super Bowl, winning $1.4 million after placing $1.26 million between three wagers for the Rams to win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He, however, took a huge loss after betting $2 million on a UFC fight after middleweight champion Israel Adesanyawas defeated by Alex Pereira during UFC 281 on November 12 in New York.
