Donald Trump: What to expect after Guilty verdict

Despite the guilty verdict, it is believed Donald Trump can still campaign and run for office as President.

A Manhattan jury has found former President Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in his New York hush money criminal trial. The verdict, delivered under the oversight of Judge Juan Merchan, has set a sentencing hearing for July 11.

Prosecutors accused Trump of engaging in an illegal conspiracy to compromise the integrity of the 2016 presidential election. The charges stem from an unlawful scheme to suppress negative information, including concealing a hush money payment to an adult film star.

This conviction marks an unprecedented moment in American history, as a former president and current party frontrunner faces a felony conviction. Despite this, Trump remains eligible to run for office.

In response to the verdict, Trump denounced the jury’s decision as a “disgrace” and asserted that the “real verdict” will be determined during the presidential election on November 5. President Joe Biden commented on social media, emphasizing that his 2024 rival can only be defeated at the ballot box.

Following Trump’s conviction, the former U.S president is likely to face a maximum prison sentence of 4-years. However, there are accounts of other convicts who received shorter sentences, fines or probation.

It is believed that incarceration cannot prevent Donald Trump from campaigning or taking office if he is to win the 2024 polls.
