Doctor raises alarm over cryptic pregnancy scam

An Owerri-based Nigerian doctor has raised awareness over the increasing rate of Cryptic pregnancy scam in the South East.

In a series of tweets, Dr Abah Ehi Peter shared his encounter with a lady who was recently paid some money with the hope of getting pregnant only to discover it was all a lie.

The cryptic pregnancy scammers supposedly “inject women with high level of oestrogen and sometimes progesterone hormones that cause the abdomen to bloat/enlarge, formation of cysts and appearance of being pregnant”. At the 9th month the women are booked for elective ceaserian section and given babies.
