DjCuppy: “Original Copy” Album Review. Cuppy Continues To Experiments Music Making Since 2017.
Florence Otedola Ifeoluwa, popularly known as – Dj Cuppy; is a very notable, relentless female Nigerian disc jockey who endlessly experiments music making. Released her debut single titled: “Green Light” in 2017 featuring popular Nigerian singer and record producer –Tekno. Her “Green Light Kpom Kpom” track wasn’t bad at all, as she continued her musical experiments releasing more, through her “Red Velvet Lab”. She formerly originates her own sound; “Neo-Afrobeat”, she keeps marching on, putting bravery and confidence ahead her journey, slowly takes away her fears of failing, and weakness; fixing them behind. In the game of music where majority longs for survival, through the work of intensive consistence before great win and achievements,Cuppy deserves something this time maybe? She’s been the waiter for too long – she puts in great work and consistency. “Go Cuppy! Go this time, hoping of course, few of your tracks would leave no choice but scale through”.
She brings us to her Debut studio album titled:“Original Copy”, an album which unveils 12-tracks, only few mind blowing. She fine opened the project with a track, titled: “Epe” which was specifically made of sounds variety and features Ghanaian singer: “Efya” who reverb ed with the tunes, allowing her open a speech saying: “I’m looking forward to expressing myself in different sounds” “In every track I’m integrating my own DNA”,Cuppy formerly opens the original copy album. I expected something better though, and greater after the official release of her first single “Jollof On The Jet” off the project initially.
Although, Dj Cuppy has been dishing out great singles after her debut official “green light” track which seemed like a fuel saying “go, into music”. She gained great access to thrive fervently, she continued till this point as she delivers us unto her official debut studio project which was finely sound constructed and was totally served with difference prior to the Cuppy’s thing. She opined the vibe and unleashed an “original copy”, isn’t fake? She always begins with “original copy, press dis” until today she delivers near failing project.
At least, Cuppy’s consistence has been something to note, following up her hit track with the Zanku headmaster – Zlatan Ibile for the “Gelato” track, was a special drip to assimilate. She actually owns huge bravery; being a successful noble Dj-cuppy, trying to grab a spot as your favorite singer. It’s true, and you know this. I really hope she never goes empty either, bagging something like getting nominated this time.Meanwhile I’m really hoping she bags nomination to gain her award winning access with either; “Jollof On The Jet” trackfine tuned by “Shaba – Killertunes”. The art features popular Nigerian award winning rave – Rema, and Tanzanian Rayvanny. Or maybe “Karma” featuring heavy weight Ghanaian Stone bowy, who totally initiated a very strong difference in the project. Stand still, take and believe this. It’s realistic. “Feel Good”, which features FireboyDML was a blessing on this project, magical and iconic to reason. No treason, as “Guilty Pleasure” features notable Nigerian act – Nonso Amadi, one who did apt accordingly for the project; while American Wyclef did tremendously great too, with the popular Nigerian legendary juju singer – Shina Peters and Jamaican Julian Marley, both perfectly conceived truth for “54”. That track’s outstanding perfection, a legendary art forged deep. Darko with “Cold Heart Killer” and Teni, with “Litty Lit” track – was wonderful too. Ms Banks and Ycee did amazing as well for “Piece Of Your” track. Great finishing, Ycee choruses: “you look so good and your smile so nice, I just can’t take my eyes off you. Don’t mean to be rude but I know your taste gon cool. Can I get a piece of your, piece of your?” And Seyi Shay closed the curtain of the project with “Labalaba”, which defines another award prospective track.Seyi actually did good and nice here. “Bye bye to labalaba, bye bye to jagajatti” Great. Seyi paid huge ransom for this project scale prospective wins here.I’m in love already on this spot. But a part came on the project where Cuppy tried jumping on hip-hop culture, for “Original Copy (Interlude)”which defines independence, she wants to experiment more and curating greater sounds. Good luck to that fact Cuppy, while my favorite tracks on this project would simply remain, “Labalaba”, “P.O.Y”, “Karma” and “JollofOn The Jet”, nothing more. Winning with this tracks would go repping gold platinum. Listen to them, while I’m still sitting right here waiting for Cuppy’s purpose as an artiste. She actually opines a better difference as a Deejay who keeps experimenting tunes and fusion, she’s going independent and out of Dads care this time. Good luck ones more.
Conclusion:
Cuppy’s project is not really that severe type, she walks along self, searches for her independence, loves partying, and upholds the African thing through. But she lost a ton giving incompleteness on the project at “Original Copy (Interlude) track”. She lost essence single handed on that spot through this project, but I still wish to see, and understand her artistic “Purpose”. Still waiting, and wishing her deserved accomplishments for the best prospect award winning tracks I mentioned you. Being successful as a female artiste like this won’t be an easy survival but she has more than Disc Joking to proof out here, keep experimenting Cuppy, the world awaits your new sounds and perfect mechanics. Go Original Cuppy!
