"Disown Tinubu's directives" -- Atiku Camp to Rivers State

The intervention of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Rivers State political crisis does not sit well with his political rivals who have trooped in to condemn his directives.

Following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the longstanding political crisis in Rivers State, the camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly reacted, contesting the legality and constitutionality of the directives issued.

During a three-hour meeting held at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu, accompanied by key stakeholders including the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former governor Peter Odili, and others, reached eight resolutions aimed at resolving the political tension in the South-South state.

Signatories to these resolutions included Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Oma Ordu, Wike, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, factional Speaker Martin Amaewhule, PDP Rivers State Chairman Aaron Chukwuemeka, and APC Caretaker Chairman Tony Okocha.

Responding via a post on the verified Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation handle, spokesman Daniel Bwala condemned the directives as illegal, unconstitutional, and deemed them null and void. He urged the people of Rivers State to disown these directives outright.

“The people of Rivers State should disavow the so-called directive which is, in itself, illegal, unconstitutional, and null and void,” Bwala stated.
