Disciplinarian engaged by father stabs teenager to death

Felix Ezike, a supposed disciplinarian, has allegedly stabbed on Deji Animashaun, 19, to death in the Egbe area of Ikotun, Lagos State, TopNaija reports.

 

Deji’s father, Dada, invited Felix to help him discipline his son, who was reportedly caught stealing and had failed to take to correction.

While Felix was disciplining Deji, it was learnt that the teenager resisted and the disciplinarian brought out a jack knife and allegedly stabbed the victim in the head and body. Deji reportedly collapsed and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

He, however, died while receiving treatment in hospital.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said the father and the disciplinarian had been arrested, adding that the deceased’s corpse had been deposited in the mortuary.

Elkana stated, “On August 28, 2020, around 4.30pm, one Dada Animashaun, of Rasheed Bello Street, Egbe, Ikotun, allegedly invited one Felix Ezike, 27, to his house to discipline his son, Deji Animashaun, 19, for stealing and becoming a defiant.

“In the process, the son resisted the punishment and was stabbed with a jack knife in the head and body by the said Felix Ezike. Consequently, the boy collapsed and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he later died. Our detectives have visited the scene of the incident and the corpse was evacuated to the IDH Morgue in Yaba for autopsy.

“Meanwhile, the boy’s father and the said Felix Ejike have been arrested and exhibit recovered. Homicide detectives of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, are discreetly investigating the matter.”

In another development, no fewer than 97 suspected cultists have been arrested by men of the state police command for allegedly holding an initiation party at the Uptown Hill Hotel, Area 1 Estate, Merian, Lagos State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed this while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday.

He explained that exhibits recovered from the suspects during the raid on the hotel included two sacks containing broken pieces of calabash, dead chickens and fishes, yellow face masks, yellow woollen caps, yellow T-shirts and yellow pairs of trousers, among others, adding that the suspects would be charged.

Odumosu said, “On August 29, 2020, around 1.15am, the Merian Division received a piece of information that some cult members, numbering around 200, were having an initiation party at the Uptown Hill Hotel, Area 1 Estate, Merian.

“Upon the receipt of the information, patrol teams from the Meiran Division, the Rapid Response Squad and the Area ‘P’ Command in Alagbado were mobilised to the scene and 97 suspects were arrested.

“Exhibits recovered include two sacks containing broken pieces of calabash, dead chickens and fishes, yellow numbered face masks, yellow woollen caps, yellow T-shirts, yellow trousers, yellow head banner tags with the inscription, ‘Bucharest/Flotilla and Mallorca/Bucharest’, and FLT registration book suspected to be for the initiation of new members. The suspects will be charged.”
