Dino Melaye tells Peter Obi to return to the PDP and be Finance Minister

The 2023 General elections theatrics and shenanigans have began, and this time it is the former Senator Dino Melaye carrying out his performance.

In reaction to the Presidential ambition of Labour Party flag-bearer, Peter Obi, the ex-Kogi West district Senator gave a candid advisor to the Politician.

The former Senator, who is known for his humor and comic act, informed Obi to drop the thoughts of being President and quickly return to the PDP to fight for the Finance Minister slot.

Dino Melaye made this appeal on a live video he published on his verified Facebook page on Friday.

The Senator claimed that it wasn’t Peter Obi’s time to be president hence he should forget the social media drama he is staging up.

He defended his point by stating that Obi can change Nigeria and even cut cost on governance by being the finance minister of the country.

He said in quote:

“I celebrate you Peter Obi and your movement for a new Nigeria. I celebrate sensitization of the Nigerian youths and public, but I want to advise that your time is not now.

“You are a great Nigerian. I salute your political and intellectual sagacity. You are one Nigerian. I know tomorrow there’s a space for you, but for today, let us forget the social media drama. Let us forget the diaspora euphoria.”

The Politician even referenced the ethnic divide of the country, using it to strike fear in the opposing Peter Obi, informing him it will be difficult for other Nigerians to trust an Igbo man.

“The answer in every sincerity of purpose and act of commitment is no, so we need one Nigeria who is going to be trusted by every part of Nigeria, who the South and North will believe in and that person without blinking my eyes is Atiku Abubakar,” he said.

“I have listened to your postulations, I have listened to your arguments, I have listened to your deliveries, I have listened to your campaigns and I can say that 90 percent of your campaigns is dwelling on reducing the cost of governance.

“Most of your campaigns is around cutting the cost of governance and i want to tell you that the problem of Nigeria is beyond just cutting the cost of governance. I’m not saying it’s deceptive or pretentious, but it’s less than 1 percent of our national problems.

Dino Melaye then stressed his point that Peter Obi does not need to be the President to cut the cost of governance or make a difference.

“You can cut cost if you have a very effective Minister of Finance, If you have an effective Minister of Budget and Planning and CBN Governor you can cut the cost of governance if you have an effective Chairman and economic team and with the cooperation of the President,” he said.

The former lawmaker added further that:

“We need a Nigerian who has the capacity to solve the problem of Boko Haram, banditory and kidnapping in Nigeria and Sub Saharan Africa – Benin, Chad, Mali and Cameroun,” he said.

It is unclear if Senator Dino Melaye’s words are a jibe directed at the Presidential aspirant or as he terms it an advise, but the former lawmaker asking a Nigerian to give up his hopes of being president, shows his statements go beyond an advise.
