Dino Melaye loses PDP senatorial ticket to TJ Yusuf
A former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye, has lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to a serving House Representatives member, Hon. T.J Yusuf to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial ticket in Kogi State, TopNaija reports.
The lawmaker representing Kabba/Bunu Ijumu Federal constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf defeated Senator Dino Melaye who represented Kogi West in the 8th Assembly with 163 votes as against 99 votes polled by Melaye.
In a rerun election held Tuesday in Kaba, following a tied result of 88 votes apiece for the duo of TJ Yusuf and Dino Melaye after Monday’s delegates election.
In Kogi East, former banker, Dr Victor Adoji clinched the ticket to fly the flag of PDP at next February’s general election.
As of the time of filing this report, the delegates’ election to Kogi central is yet to be held after some of the aspirants’ picture did not appear on the ballot papers.
Yusuf, while speaking after he was declared the winner, extended the olive branch to his co-contestants, urging hem to join hands with him to win the general election.
He commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries, promising to continue with his good work if elected at the general election.
