Ending decades of military rule in Nigeria, May 29, 1999, was the beginning of liberation for Nigerians thus the tag “Democracy day

Democracy Day is June 12, a national public (bank) holiday in Nigeria. Democracy Day marks the day the military handed over power to an elected civilian government in 1999, marking the beginning of the longest continuous civilian rule since Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule in 1960. Until June 6, 2018, it was held annually on May 29.

As great, passionate, and patriotic citizens, just as we celebrate festivals, Democracy day is also one of our festive periods.

As we celebrate another year of democratic rule, we should be grateful for the freedom to do everything unlike in the military era.

We are therefore celebrating with Nigerians, and have compiled a couple of beautiful Happy Democracy Day Messages this year for you to share and send to your loved ones.
