Delta Senator, Nwaoboshi, dumps PDP for APC, meets Buhari

The Senator representing Delta North, Peter Nwaoboshi, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), days after his suspension from the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, welcomed the senator to the APC.

This was announced by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in a statement entitled, ‘President Buhari congratulates Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi for decamping to APC’.

The statement read, ‘President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja welcomed Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi to the All Progressives Congress, after he left the Peoples Democratic Party, saying ‘you are welcome to the progressives family.’

“Sen. Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North District, Delta State, was presented to President Buhari and National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee at the State House by Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.

“The Deputy Senate President said Senator Nwaoboshi’s decision to join the APC clearly shows that the effort of the CECPC was yielding fruit. The Senator was warmly welcomed by party members.”

Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi was born 1958 in Delta State.

He attended St. Thomas Teachers College, where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1976. In 1986, he graduated from University of Benin where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws. He also has a Master of Laws from Delta State University.

In 2015, Nwaoboshi was elected into office as a Senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the National Assembly. He was subsequently appointed Chairman, Senate committee in Niger Delta. In 2019, he was re-elected into the Senate under the Peoples Democratic Party.
