Defeat to Wolves: Tottenham Hotspur lose footing in Title Chase

Tottenham Hotspur lose steam when it most mattered, leaving Manchester City with all to gain.

The Premier League at its evergreen moment, and Wolverhampton Wanderers having yet another say in a premier league weekend as they leave North London side, Tottenham Hotspur with more troubles heading into the international break.

Call it déjà vu or a depleted squad coming to bite back at Ange Postecoglou’s side, but Spurs face same mistakes that doomed them against Chelsea last Monday as they raced into an early 1-0 lead thanks to Brennan Johnson.

However, if there was any lesson Wolves learnt from Spurs’ defeat to Chelsea, it’s that Tottenham were very much not the team to be feared even when leading by a 1 goal margin.

The Gary O’Neil side were able to come back into the game thanks to a stoppage time equalizer by substitute, Pablo Sarabia and a winner by Mario Lemina in the 7th minute of added time to steal all 3 points away from the North London side.

From a position of strength to nothing within the space of 7 minutes, Tottenham Hotspur fell from the top of the table to remain in second place.

This leaves their North London rivals, Arsenal with the advantage heading into their tie versus Burnley, with a win against Vincent Kompany’s side taking the Gunners 1 point above Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou’s side could end the weekend in 4th spot of the premier league table if positive results end up turning out for Liverpool and Arsenal. Of course, a Manchester City victory will leave them further away from the top spot despite weeks spent at the top of the league table.
