Davido Reveals He Contemplated Selling Father’s Rolls Royce to Fund Music Career
Renowned singer and songwriter, Davido, has recently shared a remarkable anecdote about his early struggles in the music industry, revealing that he once considered selling his billionaire father’s Rolls Royce to finance his burgeoning music career.
During an interview with ABtalks, Davido recounted the challenges he faced in gaining financial support from his father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke, for his musical aspirations.
Faced with a lack of support, the determined artist resorted to extreme measures, including breaking into his father’s Atlanta home in the United States to sell multiple televisions.
The incident took place when Davido was just starting out in his music journey.
He expressed his desire to return to Nigeria to pursue his musical ambitions, but his father adamantly refused to provide financial assistance.
Driven by his passion and determination, Davido took matters into his own hands, seeking unconventional methods to raise funds.
He revealed that after successfully selling the televisions, he even contemplated selling his father’s luxurious Rolls Royce, viewing it as one of the “crazy means” to generate the money needed for his music aspirations.
OBO said; “So I blew up, remember I said that I told him I wanted to move back, but he disagreed. I ended up dropping out, he found out that I wasn’t in school for like a year.
I broke into his house in Atlanta, sold all the TVs, old his furniture. I almost sold his Rolls Royce, because I was like ‘yeah I want to do this music’ but he didn’t want me to, so I was like ‘you know what?’ I’m just about that crazy.”
