Davido raises over ₦78m in three hours after asking friends for ₦1m gift [Screenshots]

Nigerian music star Davido has raised over seventy-eight million naira after asking his friends to gift him one million each ahead of his birthday on November 21, 2021.

 

He opened a bank account today and so far N78 million has been deposited by his friends. His goal is N100 million.

Fans and followers thought the multi-award-winning songwriter was joking when he posted a video on his Instagram Story calling on those he had helped in the music industry to send him a million naira.

Davido said, “We rise by lifting others abi? Me I don dey rise dey lifting others for the past 100 years. So I want to know who my friends are. All of my friends one one million Naira. They said we are 30BG. If you don’t send your own. You out of here. You are gone.”

To show that he was not just joking the father of three posted his account number on his stories thread and posted screenshots of money sent into it.

Davido also met one of his fans at Dubai mall who gifted him N1.6 million.

The fan bumped into Davido and offered to be part of the donations toward his birthday. He gave Davido Dubai currency that is worth N1.6 million. Meanwhile, the donation has hit N70m and counting.

 

Obi Cubana, Zlatan, Adegunle Gold, EMoney, BBNaija’s Nengi, Peruzzi, Lawmaker Akin Alabi, singer Chike, Singer Dremo, Singer Mayorkun, Mr Eazy, Teni the Entertainer, Chike, Ikorodu Bois, Isaac Oladipupo, and many others have gifted him money.

Davido rose to fame after releasing “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo. In 2012, Davido won the Next Rated award at The Headies.
