David Ornstein shares positive news On Manchester United

Positive news seem to be up in the air for Manchester United on the transfer front, according to a new report by Sport journalist, David Ornstein.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo has been handed a significant boost, with indications suggesting the 23-year-old French international could be on the Red Devils’ radar for an upcoming transfer move.

Todibo has been a long-standing target for Manchester United, and while Tottenham Hotspur has also expressed interest, it appears the Centre-back is not set to make a move just yet.

The potential cost of acquiring Todibo is estimated to exceed £40 million, prompting Manchester United to seek clarity amidst their ongoing ownership situation.

The imminent confirmation of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25% stake in the club has added a layer of anticipation regarding the club’s transfer activities.

According to insights from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Manchester United‘s pursuit of Todibo aligns with their search for defensive reinforcements, particularly following a recent injury setback faced by summer signing Micky van de Ven.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur, led by owner Daniel Levy, is also eyeing defensive reinforcements due to injuries and squad limitations.

However, Ornstein clarified that despite names like Todibo being mentioned, it’s unlikely that the French defender will make a move to Spurs during the current transfer window.

“Injuries and squad limitations have created challenges for Tottenham, prompting a need for reinforcements in January,” Ornstein stated in his analysis of the transfer market.

“While financial constraints might influence their approach, the priority remains securing a centre-back, although a move for Todibo appears improbable at this stage.”
