David Moyes appointed West Ham's manager for the second time

David Moyes Sunderland manager , is considering playing Victor Anichebe along with Jermaine Defoe in future.

Moyes made the suggestion following Anichebe’s impressive performance for Sunderland in their 1-0 loss to Southampton in Wednesday’s fourth-round of the  English Football League Cup clash at Saint Mary’s.

Anichebe, who joined Sunderland as a free agent after deadline day made his first start for the Black Cats against the Saints and gave a good account of himeself.

Commenting on Anichebe’s performance on Wednesday night, Moyes however admitted he needs to strike the right balance.

“In the future it might be a temptation to play them both (Anichebe and Defoe), but we don’t want to change too much to the midfield because they need to get the ball to the forwards too,” Moyes told Sunderland Echo.

“You need to get the balance right.”

The former Everton boss went on to praise Anichebe’s input in the game. “I thought Victor did really well and was a handful. He gave us a different outlook all night and we went to him.

“When we went a goal down I had to give him longer than 65 minutes.”
