David de Gea shares cryptic message for United fans
Following the rumors surrounding a potential return to the club, former Manchester United goalie, David de Gea has taken to social media to mess with the United fandom.
Reacting to speculations and reports about his return to Old Trafford ahead of the AFCON competition that will see Andre Onana out from the United squad, David de Gea shared a cryptic emoji on Twitter to add more fuel to the flames.
The Spaniard still remains a free agent despite many links to a host of clubs in the summer transfer window, which adds more layers to the plausibility of David de Gea returning to man the stakes for the Red Devils.
The Sun published an article suggesting that Manchester United is contemplating offering De Gea a short-term deal in response to concerns about their goalkeeper situation during Andre Onana’s absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Andre Onana, who returned to the Cameroon squad in September following a suspension that saw him miss last year’s World Cup, is set to be away for an extended period.
The Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to commence on January 13th and conclude on February 11th, potentially causing Onana to miss as many as eight games for his new club.
Hours after these reports surfaced, De Gea took to social media, specifically the platform formerly known as Twitter, and posted the pensive ‘thinking face’ emoji.
