Darwin Nunez Is Overdoing It—Thierry Henry slams

There is no winning his critics when it comes to Liverpool’s £85 million signing, Darwin Nunez however he tries to prove himself with his game play; Thierry Henry is one such critic of his.

Nunez’s efforts has resulted in him either losing focus or too focused in areas whereby he ends up missing the minor details that could change the outcome of results for the team.

For Thierry Henry, former player for Arsenal, he believes that Darwin Nunez, Liverpool’s £85 million summer acquisition, is attempting to “overdo things.”

He claimed that the Uruguayan needed to play with more poise and quit attempting to win over the Liverpool supporters.

Nunez, who Liverpool acquired from Benfica in the summer for £85 million, scored his sixth goal of the year on Tuesday.

His goal made it possible for Jurgen Klopp’s team to defeat Napoli 2-0 in the Champions League.

Thierry Henry thinks Darwin Nunez is on the right road but thinks he’s pushing himself too hard to create an impression.

“I think he needs confidence,” the former Premier League goal machine, Henry told CBS.

“Because he wants to please so much and do so much and he wants to wow the Liverpool fans, sometimes he rushes it.

“I went through that. When you arrive as a big signing and just overdo it at times. Coming in after Sadio Mane, that’s not easy to do and you just overdo it instead of being calm, cool and finishing.

“He’s a bit more of a handful. Sometimes he will rush a bit like Alexis Sanchez or a young Luis Suarez.”

Of course, for a young striker coming into a new club with such record fee, there is this mental stress with needing to prove your abilities to show he is worth the fee the transfer market placed on him.

It also didn’t help when the media started comparing the Uruguayan with Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
