Darwin Nunez apologizes to Liverpool
Some nerves were drawn in the match against Crystal Palace on Monday night when Palace went by a goal up and in that time period, Darwin Nunez refused a red card.
Liverpool were 1 goal down and 1 man down, the odds were on the Reds starting the season with a loss at Anfield at a time they really should be chasing for the League title.
Pundits had quite a lot to say against Darwin Nunez, some who labeled the aggression and violent conduct stupid and unnecessary, with some seeing the Uruguayan costing his team the title.
With all those talks said and done, Liverpool manager made a few statements to the press to calm the narrative, along with members of his team such as Virgil van Dijk, James Milner and Jordan Henderson.
It was a red, they all admitted, knowing their fellow red indeed was in the wrong, but then it only took the person to come to the open to admit his errors before all can be given, and the Uruguayan has done exactly that.
Taking on to his social media handle, Nunez wrote:
“I am aware of the ugly attitude I had. I’m here to learn from my mistakes, and it won’t happen again. Apologies to Liverpool. I’ll be back.”
After the draw against Crystal Palace and the headbutt-gate, Liverpool now sit 12th on the Premier League table and could fall into the relegation zone should they face defeat or a draw against Manchester United next Monday.
For a side looking to challenge for the Premier League title, it is quite the wrong way to start it especially when your opponent is a Manchester City and Pep Guardiola side.
