Dani Alves Starves Self In Prison

Guilt or shame, which of it is it for former Barcelona star, Dani Alves in prison?

Former Brazil defender Dani Alves, who has been in jail since January 2023 on allegations of sexual assault, is reportedly refusing meals and wants to spend most of his time locked up in his cell. This comes after news of his split from his wife Joana Sanz, who announced the separation on Instagram.

According to a report from Spanish news outlet Cuatro al dia, Alves had previously confided in fellow inmates that his wife loved and supported him amid the allegations, but following the announcement of their separation, the player is said to be “completely devastated and very nervous.”

Previously sharing a prison cell with another inmate, Dani Alves is now requesting to be alone and wants to spend most of his day locked up in his cell. The report suggests that the player is struggling to cope with the stress of the serious allegations and is finding it hard to come to terms with the end of his marriage.

No trial date has been set for Dani Alves, and he remains in jail pending further investigations. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player has been capped 118 times by the Brazilian national team and is widely regarded as one of the greatest right-backs of all time.

The allegations of sexual assault have shocked the football world, with many expressing their support for the victim and calling for justice to be served. Meanwhile, the news of Alves’ refusal to eat and preference for solitary confinement has raised concerns about his mental health and well-being while in jail.
