The announcement stated, “We hereby inform you that the deposit of Daniel Alves’ bail has been registered in the accounts of the 21st section of the Barcelona Court.”
Alves, who was convicted of rape in Spain back in February, had been sentenced to four years and six months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.
Under the conditions of his release, the 40-year-old footballer is required to surrender both his Spanish and Brazilian passports and must remain within Spanish territory. Additionally, he has agreed to regular weekly check-ins with the court.
Alves’ case has drawn significant attention, given his status as a former star player for Brazil and his extensive career in top-level football, including stints with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and other prominent clubs.
Earlier, it was reported that the Neymars (Neymar Jr. and Sr.) were involved in the trial and had been speculated to pay up the bail amount for the Brazil star. However, the report was swiftly denied by Neymar Sr. who disclosed that the extent of their support for Dani Alves ended following the final verdict for his charges.
